Network Services
Benefit from robust implementations of local DNS, automatic configuration, Virtual Private Networks, local mail delivery, and more. Network Services are generally provided by a network server, which can usually be deployed on ageing, retired, and inexpensive hardware.
DHCP
Configure your network hosts' IP addresses, routes, nameservers, and domain names automatically with the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
TFTP & Network Booting
TFTP can be used to provide bootable files to network hosts, allowing them to boot via PXE . Computers that boot from the network do not require hard drives, and are suitable for a variety of tasks.
DNS
Refer to your hosts by name rather than number. Centralize and cache DNS requests. DNS may be used with many various network systems.
Firewalls
Control access to and from various networks. Protect your hosts from external access, restrict them from websites or other unwelcome usage, and elect to make various internal services accessible from the outside world or a virtual private network. Isolate various networks, namely for security purposes.
Gateways & Routers
Provide access to the internet or to other networks for a group of hosts. Connect a number of different networks together. Combine separate internet connections for maximum efficiency and fault tolerance.
Virtual Private Networks
Use a VPN to connect networks on different continents as if they were in the same room. Roam between physical networks while enjoying seamless and secure access to your corporate, business, or home network. Allow your employees to work from home as effectively as they can in the office. All can be accomplished without VPN hardware or other expensive investments.
Corporate Email
Receive email @yourdomain.com rather on a free service like Google, Yahoo, or Hotmail. Provide contact addresses like sales@, info@, or support@yourdomain.com. Create forwards so that you needn't put your permanent addresses on web pages, and change them when necessary. Automatically scan your email for spam and even viruses before you read it. Provide email service exclusively to your intranet, or automatically process emails. Use IMAP to concurrently access email through a dedicated mail application or webmail.
Web Service
Serve web pages locally from your own server. You can realize higher performance, less latency, better scalability options, and stronger security. Integrate your websites and web applications with other network services like email or VPNs. Dedicated webservers are an attractive option in a number of environments.
mySQL Tuning
Optimize your databases before they become a bottleneck or nuisance. Add or remove indices to improve performance. Design - or redesign - your tatabase schema to better represent your data and to improve performance. Improve database performance and implement a backup strategy and disaster recovery procedure before you need it. Tune mySQL server settings to make the most of your data. Shard or cluster your databases so that they can keep up with your growth rate. Misconfigured databases are a constant pain; but with a little professional maintenance, your mySQL server can be the most reliable and least conspicuous of your network servers.
Linux and Unix Maintenance
Give your 'nix box a tune-up. Update important software, archive and clear out logs, remove now-unnecessary accounts, or finally move away from sendmail. Clean out a messy filesystem, add more storage, or configure new devices.
